Goodwood Estate has been hosting shooting parties for hundreds of years. Today our team comprises an array of attentive staff who both love the sport themselves and also understand the important details necessary to make an enjoyable and safe day's shooting. We offer both simulated game shooting with the backdrop of the beautiful South Downs and clay shooting within a secret disused stone quarry. Whatever your preference, shooting at Goodwood is a unique day out for friends, family or colleagues.

Clay Shooting

A stone’s throw below the Trundle our Clay Pigeon shooting ground is situated in a stunning bowl-like arena. Suitable for novices and crack-shots alike, our package includes expert tuition, gun hire, safety wear, and 50 cartridges and clays. Your experience may involve joining up with others on the day depending on numbers.

Take to the rutted off-road tracks of Goodwood Motor Circuit in our classic fleet of Land Rovers, before aiming high in our stunning Clay Shoot arena.

Built for up to four drivers, it's an adventurous day perfect for groups of friends and family to enjoy together.

Origins: The Early Years

The 5th Duke of Richmond's inheritance of the Gordon estates in Scotland - including the Glenfiddich Estate - coincided with a new fashion among the aristocracy for visiting the Highlands to shoot and fish. The 5th and 6th Dukes made regular trips north for the fishing, shooting and deer stalking. The 7th Duke of Richmond was also a keen shot and photographs, such as this, show him enjoying the sport both at Goodwood and in Scotland.
