Discover the World of Farming at Goodwood Home Farm
Home Farm at Goodwood is opening their gates to visitors for Open Farm Sunday on 12th June, for a fun and fascinating day out for the whole family. Goodwood will be joining hundreds of other farms across the country taking part in farming’s national open day. This annual event is organised by LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming) is a great day out for the whole family and a unique opportunity to discover the world of farming.
When: Sunday 12 June
Where: Home Farm, Goodwood, PO18 0QF
Time: From 12 noon until 4pm
Admission cost: Free entry
Come and enjoy the beautiful countryside of Goodwood and learn all about the importance of sustainability and animal welfare at Home Farm. You will have the opportunity to taste milk from our beautiful Shorthorn dairy cattle, try our hand-made cheeses and sample our Goodwood beer. There will be activities for all the family, including sheep shearing demonstrations, wool and woodland crafts and children’s activities. You can watch milking in progress and even have a tractor trailer ride around the Farm.
See the dairy cows grazing and find out about the crops we grow, meet our vet and beekeeper, then stroll to meet the dairy calves and pigs up by the lambing yard.
Sheep shearing displays with the shepherd will be in progress through the afternoon in the lambing yard, and a wool crafts activity area.
A tractor trailer ride will take you down to the Goodwood Education Centre, headquarters of the Goodwood Education Trust, and the woodland nature trail in Seeley Copse for nature-based, Forest School activities. The Education Centre is directly opposite the dairy, where you can sample some of our freshly pasteurised milk, make butter from cream, and, from 2:30pm, watch the cows being milked.
A gentle walk back through the fields brings you to the farm shop and food stall; which will be selling a selection of delicious Home Farm dishes and cold drinks. Feel free to pop into the farm shop where you can stock up on fabulous treats, including our newly launched Levin Down Goodwood Gin, Goodwood cheeses, Goodwood sausages and Goodwood ice cream.
Due to livestock at the farm, we are unable to welcome dogs to Open Farm apart from assistance dogs.
