5 Ways to Help You Cross The Finish Line
We’ve compiled a list of 5 tips that will consistently get you across the finish line:
- Stay Hydrated – Acting as probably the most obvious tip, ensuring your body is constantly filled with enough water is so important when running. Take time throughout the week before your race to keep fully hydrated as this will prevent early signs of fatigue.
- Good Nutrition – Many people assume that loading your body up with carbs the morning of an event is enough to keep you going. However, having are carefully created food plan for the weeks prior to your run is a far more beneficial method. Nutritious meals, including ample carbs will give you longer-lasting energy.
- Power of Music – The idea of plugging in headphones and listening to music whilst running is by no means a new concept. But we are yet to discover something more powerful than an adrenaline-pumping playlist to get across the finish line. Not only does it elevate your mood, but it can also help you keep up your race pace.
- Self-Motivate – Talking to yourself whilst exercising is perfectly normal! Running is as much about mental strength as it is physical. Repeatedly reminding yourself that you can do it will often serve as that extra ounce of motivation that you need. The same goes with setting small milestones; break up the course mile by mile.
- Slow and Steady – The urge to dart forward as soon as the race starts is inevitable, but actually setting yourself a steady pace will be much more beneficial as you progress through the race. Try to make sure you don’t make the mistake of starting too slowly, but ensuring consistent timing between each stride will certainly use your energy more effectively.
