Sometimes it’s not starting a fitness routine that is the biggest struggle, it can often be maintaining it. At The Health Club we believe that keeping your routine in gear can often be about mind over matter.

Mind over Matter
By clearing your mind and washing away the stresses of the day, this can translate to your workout and totally change your mind set. We’ve compiled a quick list of tips to help you let go of the pressures that may be holding you back from reaching those goals:
- That little voice that is telling you “I can’t do this!” needs to give it a rest. You CAN do this! It is all about focus and putting your mind to your goal.
- Slowing down for a second to make the best decision for your body and mind can make all the difference. Taking life at a slower pace can really help you mind to control and concentrate on what you are trying to achieve.
- Know your limits! You don’t have to run faster or lift heavier weights than anybody else. As long as you’re working at a rate that is comfortable to you, it doesn’t matter about the person on your left or right.
- Be happy in the moment and try to let go of your worries. Exercising should be enjoyable and allow you to feel content with your life. Forget about those work deadlines, the endless list of chores you have to do and take the time to focus on your work out. It’s your moment.
- What about that lunge you avoid trying? Or the triceps dips you don’t bother to practice? Even that you final stretch you very often don’t bother with! Give it a go! Without giving it a shot and trying to improve, you will never see the results you’re after.
All of these fitness tips can be learnt from Mindfulness and the way in which we focus our minds.
To learn more, join us on Thursday 2nd February as we welcome Mindfulness practitioner, Russel Kendall, to our monthly Members Gathering from 6.30pm. Spaces are limited and will need to be booked in advance at the Health Club reception.
