Not a morning person? Too bad for you. We’ve compiled five reasons why those who work out in the morning have a big advantage:

Sport the morning workout
1) Beat the crowds – Trying to complete three sets of deadlifts is near to impossible in a packed gym. The guy in the corner is trying to edge his way in. The girl on the left is trying to steal your dumbbells. But if you’re up and ready to rise and grind early doors, the fight for equipment is the last thing that should be on your mind. Make the most of your facility by experiencing the ‘off-peak’ times.
2) Hormones are on your side – Working out in the morning means that your hormones that help to create and maintain muscle are elevated. Take advantage of these naturally flowing hormones, rather than waiting until the evening when they are much lower in the body.
3) Increased focus – A bout of exercise increases your focus for the next activity because your body is switched on and full of adrenaline. So what follows a morning workout? For many, it’s the office or social environment, therefore a morning workout means that you’re more likely to be engaged during those later hours.
4) Less likely to miss a workout – It might take a few cups of coffee to get you out of bed in the morning, but once you’re up, there are far fewer distractions on your journey to the gym. However later on in the day, there are many different obstacles that can sabotage your workout: an overdue work report, a sick child, after-work drinks. Morning exercise means you have the rest of the day tackle whatever comes your way.
5) Improved mood – No one enjoys listening to someone moan about the thought of going to the gym after work, or trying to find the motivation to workout. But, with a morning workout under your belt, there is no better feeling to start the day with. Feel-good hormones are released during exercise, so ensure your day is a good one by releasing those hormones in the morning.
