Easter is the time of year renowned for chocolate, Easter eggs and over-eating; as well as Christmas, but we won’t mention that just yet! Whilst it is important to reward yourself with treats, we’ve come up with a few ways to help you stay on track over the four-day weekend.

Stay Healthy Over the Easter Weekend
- Treat yourself for just one day – Let’s face it, to ask yourself to throw away all of your chocolatey treats is somewhat soul destroying; but that doesn’t have to be the case. Spoiling yourself for just one or two days allows you to get back into your fitness routine easily. After all, it wouldn’t be Easter without ANY chocolate!
- Manage your portion sizes – It would be criminal to miss out on Easter Sunday lunch, or try and substitute it for another option. Managing your portion sizes means that you do not even have to consider missing out. Fill your plate with vegetables, go slightly lighter on the carbs and ensure you have plenty of protein to keep you full.
- Exercise is key – Just because Easter means a four-day weekend for many, it does not mean that you have to take four days off working out. Try to fit in at least two forms of exercise over the long weekend. Why not start the weekend with a light run in the fresh, spring air? Or even enjoy a bike ride with the whole family?
- Exchange non-chocolate gifts – To receive a chocolate Easter egg is nothing new in the world of Easter celebrations. But have you ever thought about the idea of offering Easter-themed gifts, or even giving the money you would spend on chocolate to charity this year? That way you’ll feel good in yourself and good in your heart.
- Don’t feel guilty! – Most importantly of all, don’t feel as if you’re cheating by treating yourself. Remaining healthy and losing weight is all about balance. So enjoy the Sunday roast, savour the chocolatey treats and have embrace the bank holiday celebrations.
