Days get shorter, temperatures dip, and the leaves fall from the trees. Autumn brings many changes, but that doesn't mean your workouts have to suffer.
Instead of letting these autumnal changes bring upon excuses for exercising, look for the opportunity in each of them to renew and revamp your workout routine. Here are some tips on how to do just that!
Change it up – Regardless of the season it is beneficial to change up your workout every now and again to prevent your body adapting to the exercise you do. However, the move in seasons is the perfect opportunity to “trick” your body into trying something new.
Join a team or club – Find a club that runs a sport that you enjoy, or have always wanted to try. Whatever the activity, a group will keep you motivated to get up and get moving during those darker, colder evenings.
Layer up – It is vital that you check the forecast and dress appropriately for your workout. Layers are ideal, as you can remove them once your body temperature has increased and put them back on once you begin to cool down. Sweating when the temperature is cold can lead to illness, so it is important to keep those layers handy.
Stay hydrated - If you choose to keep your training outdoors, be mindful to drink water despite the cooler temps. Even if you're not sweating as much as you would be in the summer, you can still become dehydrated.
