Goodwood has been a favourite destination of the Royal Family for generations. HM the Queen was a frequent visitor in her younger days, attending the annual horse-racing week known affectionately as Glorious Goodwood. While Lady Caroline, daughter of the 6th Duke of Richmond and Gordon, was bridesmaid to Queen Victoria’s daughter, Princess Helena when she married Prince Christian of Schleswig-Holstein on 5th July 1866.
