Mark Gibb, who for six years has overseen the operations at the Aerodrome, will be heading up the Club as part of his role as Aviation Operations Manager. Gibb brings a wealth of experience to the role, having been involved in the aviation industry since 1993 and being a familiar face to many of the members.
Kristin Gjetnes has taken up the role of Club Membership Executive, having previously worked at Goodwood in the Land and Buildings department. Kristin’s friendly demeanour and conscientious attitude mean that she is the perfect fit for the job and members can look forward to meeting her at the many upcoming events.
Events in 2018 include exclusive behind-the-scenes visits to the control towers at both Gatwick and Heathrow airports, talks by a physicist at the Atomic Weapons Establishment and by Kate McWilliams, who was the world’s youngest female Captain of a commercial airline. The ever-popular fly-outs for pilots and passengers to other aerodromes will take place, such as trips to the Headcorn Battle of Britain Air Show and Cotswold Airport for the Royal International Air Tattoo.
The extensive calendar of events is just one of the benefits available to members of the GAC. All members receive a 30% discount on landing fees throughout the year and landings are free on Tuesdays. Members can also land pre-’66 aircraft for free at all times and have access to the stunning, private member’s clubhouse at Goodwood, The Kennels.
Members can also enjoy complimentary tickets to Goodwood’s Festival of Speed (Thursday) and discounted tickets for Goodwood Revival. There are also discounts on a wide variety of experiences, merchandise and facility fees which apply all year, including 10% off all food and beverage in the Old Control Tower café at the Aerodrome.
Speaking about the re-launch, Gibb said; “This is an incredibly exciting year for Aviation at Goodwood, with a varied and interesting calendar of events for Club members, all set against the backdrop of one of the most beautiful and vibrant aerodromes in the UK. The Aero Club at Goodwood is one of the largest in the country, supported by passionate and enthusiastic Club members. One of my key aims for the GAC in the coming year is to build a real sense of ownership, community and belonging amongst the membership that adds real value to our based and visiting customers alike.”
