On Saturday 18th June, The Downs Course played host to the Summer Roll Up.
On Saturday 18th June we had our Summer Roll Up - ‘Summer Sports Day’. The Shotgun started just after 9:30 following our warm up starting speech from our General Manager, Gary Beves. Competitors made their way out onto their starting holes taking their packed lunches in their own Golf At Goodwood cooler bags. The day was celebrated on course with Pimms and Gin stations accompanied by an assortment of snacks and The Kennels offered a Beer and Burger deal to follow.
As an opportunity to win more points, there were some on-course games. In line with our Sports Day theme we had a flop shot challenge over the badminton net. Keeping the ball within the court proved to be the bigger challenge with only a few competitors picking up points there. By the Gazebo we had an Egg and Spoon race where the first and second runners from each group could pick up points. On occasion we had members of our team standing in, some getting the glory and others just helping to make up the numbers! For the 12th Hole we had Beat the Pro with Jordan one of the newer members of our team. He was relatively generous on the day and allowed the opportunity for a few more points to be scored. The last two holes offered a shot over the water with tinted swimming goggles and a longest drive with a tennis ball. Each proved to be interesting in their own rights.
Our overall winner of the day racking up an amazing score of 45 points was Damien Simpson.
Here are our overall winners:
