MAY 09th 2016
The Fryer Cup ‑ The road to Las Colinas 2016
An absolutely scorching spring morning greeted the players with the day set to be one of the hottest of the year so far. The early morning starters we greeted by a lovely calm morning increasing the eagerness of the members to get out onto the golf course to try and post an early lead.
The Medal format really did focus the attention of the field due to the importance of every stroke out on the golf course. Coupling the format with the competition tee of the day being The Whites, this really did set a tough challenge for all involved.
A very impressive round of one under par gross containing four birdies really did exemplify the quality of the round. Leonardo Ruggieri was tied at the top with Geoff Bleasby on net 68, but 2015 Club Champion Ruggieri finished with a spectacular back nine of 34 shots to claim the win on countback.
The three lucky Golf At Goodwood members who will travel to Las Colinas are Geoff Bleasby, David Boyle and Peter Walsh. Unfortunately, Ruggieri does not match the age requirements of being 21-years-old or above.
The prize includes:
• Flights to and from Las Colinas and local airport transfers
• Two nights in the luxury apartments of Las Colinas Residences
• Two rounds of golf on the Cabell B. Robinson Championship golf course
• Full buffet breakfast and dinner each day.
• Prize giving lunch.
