The Kennels' Dog Show
The final May Bank Holiday Monday saw nearly 300 Members attend our annual Kennels’ Dog Show held on The Duchess Paddock.
The morning saw Members browsing The Putting Green with stalls selling beautiful handmade dog accessories and delicious doggy ice-creams, along with the chance to talk to Gemma, a local dog-walker along with professional vets, Nicky and Vicky, who spoke about everything from homeopathic medicines to natural feeding. There was also specialised doggie first aid kits and postcards from Sue and Jo Bird.
With 12 classes available for Members to enter their four-legged friends into, there was certainly some healthy competition amongst entrants. For those who were after a competitive class we had everything from ‘Best Veteran’ to ‘Junior Handler’ and ‘Best Pedigree’ and for Members looking for a bit of fun we had classes such as ‘Fancy Dress’, ‘Waggiest Tail’ and ‘Most Handsome Dog’. Each class was then judged by our panel of esteemed judges who knew exactly what they were looking for and ‘Winners’ qualities.
Throughout the day there were fantastic Gundog Demonstrations from Woodruffs Gundogs with puppies, those near the completion of their training and fully trained dogs. The displays showcased all of the dog’s obedience and skills to the highest level and the fabulous work Woodruffs do. Julie, from Woodruffs, was also on hand to talk to Members about training for their dogs.
Members also had the chance to taste some of Goodwood Home Farm’s produce as the BBQ was fired up to prepare delicious hot-dogs with a variety of toppings along with our new signature Kennels ‘Woofles’ – the perfect snack for a summer day out.
After all the excitement of the show classes, The Kennels’ Team then presented Canine Partners with a cheque of the money raised through our Kennels’ Dog Membership. We are absolutely delighted to announce that with the money, Canine Partners, have purchased a new puppy, Ivan, who will now be trained up to continue the amazing work they do and to help yet more individuals.
We would like to thank all those Members who attended, whether it be to show their dog, or simply to enjoy a Bank Holiday at their Clubhouse, and hope to see a number of you next year.
