Goodwood Circuit filled to bursting with supercars and bikes
The motor circuit team love Breakfast Club and especially Supercar Sunday, but each year they approach it with increasing trepidation… just how big is this thing going to get?
Astonishingly, still bigger and better every year, if this weekend was anything to go by. The marshals counted a handful fewer than 1,000 exotic cars through the front gates (and gate 11 onto the Lavant Straight – opened to ease traffic flow), while the throng of spectators numbered somewhere in the region of 14,000 eager enthusiasts.
We haven’t counted the number of bacon rolls dished out with coffee, but the Goodwood Estate’s porcine population may take some time to bounce back…
A heady mix of exotic cars and bikes braved the morning sunshine, with early birds arriving at 6am. By 9am the Circuit was groaning at the seams, but the new system of pre-registration with only two windscreen passes – Grid or Circuit – made life a little easier for the marshals, and hopefully for those arriving to show their cars.
Goodwood Road and Racing was naturally on hand to record the event – so watch out for our video and picture galleries throughout the rest of the week.
Oh, and we’ve four more Breakfast Clubs to go this year, so check out the calendar and start pre-registering your ‘on-theme’ vehicles now. If you only want to look (and eat bacon butties), remember Breakfast Club is free to all and there’s plenty of spectator parking across the road from the main gates.
See you at the next one?
