So it does sometimes rain at Goodwood. As the Circuit staff and marshals arrived for work today at 6am in their waterproofs and waders (well done folks!) to prepare for the first Breakfast Club event of 2015, the sheeting rain had us wondering how many cars and visitors would brave the weather too.
Although the rain meant turn-out was down on previous years, the multitude of owners and spectators who still splashed and slithered into Supercar Sunday proved Breakfast Clubbers are not to be deterred. On behalf of the Goodwood team and all the spectators, we’d like to extend a huge vote of thanks to all those drivers and owners who brought their wonderful, highly-prized cars into the circuit.
In spite of the weather, we’ve been able to feast our eyes (and ears) on a magnificent display of rare and valuable exotica, including some real rarities. When did you last see a rain-drenched Lamborghini Miura?
Some drivers earned our respect in other ways. There’s not much weather protection to speak of on a Light Car Company Rocket or a KTM X-bow, and we even managed to attract a handful of motorcycles!
The free-to-all Breakfast Club season continues at Goodwood on June 7th with Soft-Top Sunday – by which time we’re hoping Goodwood’s usual weather service will have resumed…
Meanwhile, if you were one of the army of Breakfast Club fans who braved the weather, don’t forget to share your Supercar Sunday pictures on the Breakfast Club forum!
