Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Shooting Brake

Half way through 2016 Aston Martin announced it would be winding up the second generation Vanquish, and while doing so the company would once again collaborate with Italian design-house Zagato to create a series of Vanquish Zagatos. Alongside a coupe and a convertible Aston created a Zagato Speedster, a car without any kind of roof, and a Zagato Shooting Brake. 

All in all 99 Vanquish Zagato Shooting Brakes were built, all of which were sold for something around £650,000.  It’s a fair sum of money, absolutely, but when you consider the longstanding relationship between Aston Martin and Zagato, the car’s exclusivity and, above all else, its incredible good looks, it isn’t too bad at all. Ferrari 456 GT Venice

What do you do if you have a net worth greater than that of several small countries, love estate cars and love Ferraris? You buy a Ferrari estate car, of course, but where today that’s a relatively simple process, as Ferrari builds the GTC4Lusso, 20 years ago a Ferrari estate was part of Ferrari’s regular product line. However, Ferrari did build an estate car, or rather they built seven, based on the Ferrari 456. The Ferrari 456 GT Venice, as it was known, had a 5.5-litre V12 engine, and six of the seven cars were sold to one member of the Brunei royal family (they also bought a Lamborghini LM002 estate). The final car was reportedly sold to a collector in the UK. 

No, the car you see pictured here is not of a 456 GT Venice, instead a standard 456 GT, but a quick Google search will reveal images of a car parked up in London. Is this one of the six sold to the Brunei royal family, or the mystery UK car? We’re not quite sure, but it is very much a car we’d like to see at Breakfast Club.

Volvo Amazon Estate (and Guy Martin)

You may have heard of a man called Guy Martin. He’s a down to earth kind of chap who loves bikes and tinkering with trucks, but he also likes going quick. No surprise really, given the fact he’s one of those extraordinary people who are able to detach their brain and ride flat-out around the Isle of Man TT course. 

Guy spends most of his time driving a Ford Transit, but sitting alongside the Transit in his garage is a rather unique 1967 Volvo Amazon… In a story written for The Times, Guy explained how he found himself standing in Sweden, a set of keys in hand, the proud owner of an Amazon with a 2.8-litre, 778bhp engine. 0-62mph? Less than three seconds. The top speed? “Over 205mph”. Polestar has built some special Volvos in its time, but nothing as unique as this.

Lynx Eventer

The Lynx Eventer is more than likely unfamiliar to you, but it really shouldn’t be. Lynx started out in 1973 building replica C- and D-Types before creating and selling XJS convertibles. The launch of Jaguar’s own convertible XJS in 1988 started to have a knock on effect on Lynx’s business, so they had to think of something entirely new, entirely unique… The Lynx Eventer was born, an XJS with more space and better visibility. All an XJS customer had to do was phone Lynx, send the company their car and wait 14 weeks for the estate masterpiece to be created. What a machine.

Corvette AeroWagen

The Corvette AeroWagen, or the Callaway AeroWagen as it’s officially known, starts life as a Corvette C7, and then Connecticut based Callaway Cars removes the C7’s original hatch and replaces it with a shooting brake-style hatch. The result is something quite odd, at least in Corvette terms, but so, so cool. What’s more, Callaway can give the engine a slight boost to 757bhp and 777lb ft of torque.
