The Hill may be the Goodwood Festival of Speed’s main attraction, but there has been plenty going on in the Forest Rally Stage for those who like the loose. It offers spectators the rare chance to see both historic and contemporary rally cars carving their way through the challenging tree-lined stage.
Forest Rally Stage presenter Skoda has been putting its latest creation, the Fabia S2000, through its paces alongside 2013 WRC entries from the likes of Citroen and Volkswagen.
Fresh from its record Pikes Peak and a magnet for Festival attendees has been the awesome Peugeot T16. Equally bonkers are the 1980’s Group B weapons such as the Metro 6R4, Audi Quattro and Ford RS200.
Other Festival rally favourites this year have been the flat-six throb from the Porsche 911s, giant beating Mini Coopers, tail-happy Ford Escorts and the Saab 96 which produces a distinct two-stroke soundtrack which echoes throughout the stage.
Adding to the excitement has been some serious driving talent. This year the Forest Rally Stage has been graced with the skills from none other than Carlos Sainz, Russell Brookes and Jean Ragnotti.
