The Red Arrows have been wowing crowds of spectators since 1965, and this year’s FoS forms part of their 50th season of displays. As ever, the new season of displays has been preceded by months of practice, this year’s display featuring a first half of synchronised formation aerobatics followed by a more dynamic second half.
Each of the nine Red Arrows pilots has previously flown other fast jets, such as Tornados and Typhoons, in other RAF roles. They are currently headed by Squadron Leader Jim Turner. As the ‘public face’ of the RAF, they’ll mark this year’s 50-season milestone with a stylised Union flag tailfin design. The Red Arrows display will, as ever, form a central part of the aero display at Festival of Speed and we have a great competition where you can win tickets to FoS, meet the Red Arrows team and much more…
The competition – this has now closed.
The winner will get a pair of FoS tickets for the Friday (27th), a champagne afternoon tea, a helicopter pleasure flight (shared) and a meet and greet with the Red Arrows. It’s a money-can’t-buy prize that will provide memories for a lifetime. The close date for entries is midnight on Sunday 22nd June. Good luck!
