With so much incredible activity at the Festival of Speed, it’s sometimes easy to forget that at the heart of the event is a hard-fought motorsport contest.
On Sunday at FoS after several hours of frantic on-track action, the winner of the Timed Hill Climb competition will be announced. Each vehicle which has asked for its run to be timed will be in the mix, which means that the winner could be anything from a 1903 Mercedes, a 1931 Maserati Tipo 26M, A 1963 Ford Galaxie 500, a Benetton-Ford B192, or perhaps even the Peugeot 208 T16 ‘Pikes Peak’ driven by nine-time World Rally Champion Sebastian Loeb…
To win the Timed Hill Climb competition at the Goodwood Festival of Speed is a notable honour, and to mark their achievement our winner will be presented with a very special piece of clothing from Belstaff.
Two leather jackets have been created exclusively for Goodwood, one for the fastest driver up the hill at FoS, and the other to be presented at the Revival meeting in September. Each jacket has been hand painted by British artist Nicolai Sclater, bears the insignia ‘Addicted to Winning’, and is valued at a stonking £10,000.
Will it be worn by hot favourite Mr Loeb on Sunday evening, though? Stay tuned to the action here on Goodwood Road & Racing to find out…
