Mercedes-Benz has announced a mouthwatering line-up of star drivers for this year’s Festival of Speed, led by F1 ace Lewis Hamilton. The 2008 World Champion will be joined by a host of notable drivers, namely Sir Stirling Moss, Sir Jackie Stewart, Anthony Davidson, Dario Franchitti, Jochen Mass, Karl Wendlinger, and DTM hero Bernd Schneider.

Mercedes’ crack driving team has been brought in to pedal 100 years worth of Mercedes-Benz Grand Prix cars; from the 1914 French Grand Prix winner, right up to a contemporary AMG Petronas F1 car. The GP single seaters will be joined by several other racing machines to have whipped up some feverish expectation in the office this morning, like the Sauber Mercedes C9, Penske Mercedes PC23 Indycar, 1998 CLK-LM, SLS-AMG GT3, AMG C-class DTM, and the W125 and W126 Silver Arrows. And that’s are just a selection of what’s in store ..
Tickets are still available for Sunday 29th, which is when Lewis will be introducing his F1 charger to the hill. Going off Mr Hamilton’s track record, we think he might just manage the odd burnout or two on his way …
