The latest carbon-fibre tubbed, track-focused, race-engineered, super-light yet super-stiff car for road and track, the Elemental RP1, is going to be revealed to the public at the Festival of Speed in the ‘First Glance’ category.
Granted, when you’re on the road heading for a circuit track day you’re unlikely to make that much use of the F1-style feet-up driving position or the underfloor downforce, but when you do get there the extensive Formula One-inspired technology incorporated in the RP1 should mean that you’re in for a rather fulfilling day’s driving. Even if the pilot feels that some adjustment is needed in order to get the most out of the car, Elemental have taken this into account and, apparently, changes can be made to the set up ‘without assistance, with just a couple of spanner and an Allen key.’
Power-wise, you can choose from a tuned version of the remarkable little three-cylinder, 1.0-litre, Ford EcoBoost motor, a 280bhp version of the 2 litre Ford EcoBoost, or if you’re after a super-low-weight track special then Elemental will deliver you a car with the screaming 1.0-litre Honda Fireblade bike motor fitted.
This all sounds like a lot of fun. Rest assured that an RP1 has been added to the ‘we must get our hands on one of these… soon!’ list.
