Under 17s on the circuit… are we mad? Free driving experiences during FoS

We all remember the first time we drove a car, right? How about doing so at Goodwood? During the Festival of Speed weekend, youngsters aged 12 to 17 will be able to get behind the wheel on the Motor Circuit – thanks to the AA Driving School, which is offering free 30-minute driving experiences.

Professional AA driving instructors will be on hand where the young learner drivers will be able drive dual control equipped Ford Fiestas and Focuses. The basic skills will be taught, including starting and stopping, steering, changing gear and some manoeuvres – all in a very safe environment.

If you’re visiting FoS with those aged 12 to 17, book your place at the AA stand. A high demand is expected for these experiences, so book your place early. If you have a weekend ticket, you can book a place from Thursday.

Participants and parents will be driven to the circuit in a minibus. To comply, participants must be over 1.5 metres tall and be able to read a new style number plate from 20 metres.

The AA is also offering a ‘membership for the day’ scheme for everyone with a FoS ticket. On the day of your ticket, you’ll be entitled to AA recovery within a three-mile radius of the Festival of Speed site.
