When is a Mini not quite a Mini? Probably when it’s running a 900bhp six-cylinder engine loosely related to something you’d find under the bonnet of a Nissan Skyline. As you can see in the video, this thing is no Italian Job reject. Jean-Phillippe Dayraut gets this Pikes Peak-prepared Mitjet monster fully crossed up into the first turn, straightens up and absolutely hammers it up through Molecomb, clattering through the gears and gathering spectacular pace.

Video: Spectacular 900bhp Mini Hillclimb On Board
The performance that this blood red beast puts in up the hillclimb is as impressive as the thing is be-winged, with Dayraut clocking a 45.51-second run to finish second in the shootout at FoS 2015. We can’t wait to see a return from both car and driver at FoS this year. If you were gunning for the record, what would you take?
