The ‘M Avenue’ will serve to be a celebration of the company’s critically acclaimed performance division. This will feature the car that started it all – the iconic M1 supercar of the ’70s, multiple pinnacle points throughout BMW Motorsport GmBH’s history through to their latest compact offering, the M2.
The stunning 2002 Hommage will be making its maiden UK appearance following its debut at the 2016 Concorso d’Eleganza at Villa d’Este. The design study is a reimagining and celebration of the 1973 2002 Turbo. The BMW Next 100 will also be making an appearance alongside the 2002 Hommage to both celebrate the past, and look to the future for BMW. This year’s savage BMW M4 GTS super coupe will be taking its first stab at the famous Goodwood hillclimb, too.
In addition to some of the incredible machinery that has defined BMW as one of the great performance brands over its hundred-year history, some of the drivers who piloted these great cars will be returning alongside them at FoS. Riccardo Patrese will be driving Nelson Piquet’s M1 Procar alongside Yannick Dalmas in his 1999 Le Mans winning V12 LMP. DTM legends Johnny Cecotto and Roberto Ravaglia will be piloting iconic BMW touring cars alongside Paralympic gold medalist and Indycar Champion Alex Zanardi in a thunderous Z4 GT3.
None of this will happen before Lord March himself opens the hill at the wheel of a stunning 1957 BMW 507. There is of course the central feature as well, which will stand as spectacular as ever, featuring some of BMWs all time greats.
