1935 FIAT 508 Balilla Sport Spider: no reserve
What about this for next year’s Mille Miglia re-run? Pretty perfect we’d say. It’s believed this example took part in the event in the 1950s, as 508 Balilla Sports of the period did, reinforcing the model’s formidable reputation for sporting success before the war, not just in the MM but also the Monte Carlo Rally, Targa Florio, Spa 24-Hour, Ulster TT and Le Mans. One Balilla Sport made it to Goodwood in 1952 where it averaged (on circuit with chicane) 68.7mph – not bad for 36bhp! Sold by its original Italian owner as recently as 2011, the car has since had a complete chassis-up restoration and is said to be as ready for Brescia to Rome and back as any Balilla Sport has ever been. Estimate: £70-90,000.
