So what are those cars seemingly perched so precariously on another automotive masterwork by the sculptor Gerry Judah? For sure they are BMWs – the firm’s centenary this year is the main theme of FoS in 2016 – but do you know which models they are?
Between them, the three cars are the high achievers of BMW’s participation in F1, at Le Mans and in the Mille Miglia. “The cars epitomise BMW’s competitive instincts and pursuit of technology in creating the ultimate driving machine,” says BMW.
From 1936, the BMW 328 (the one car uop the right way!) is not just a pretty face – it was also a highly effective race and rally car with lots of innovations for the time. The 328’s biggest achievement was a clean sweep victory in the 1940 Mille Miglia.
