McLaren is preparing for its largest ever presence at the Festival of Speed, and one of the key exhibits will be the recently-announced 570S Sprint making its static and dynamic global debuts. Like the P1 GTR, the 570S Sprint has been designed exclusively for track use but without the compromise of adhering to any race series regulations. It’s the most track-focused model in the Sports Series line-up.

McLaren 570S Sprint – see it first at FOS

Basis for the car is McLaren’s MonoCell II chassis and the familiar 3.8-litre V8 engine driving through the 7-speed SSG transmission. An aggressive front splitter and under-floor structure are borrowed from the 570S GT4. Other aero additions for the Sprint include a fixed carbon fibre rear wing and front dive planes. They all add up to the highest level of downforce yet seen in the Sports Series.
Optional equipment includes an air jacking system to make changing the centre-locking cast magnesium wheels quick and easy. Another item on the options list is a passenger seat, which would complete the stripped-out, FIA rollcage equipped cockpit.
While the 570S Sprint is not homologated for any race series, a GT4 compliance pack is available as a further upgrade for the 570S Sprint. Having been developed in parallel to the 570S GT4 – currently completing its final testing phase in the live race environment of the British GT championship – the package includes all items required to meet the FIA standards for GT4 competition.
The standard colour is McLaren Orange (of course!), but customers can opt for any other hue available for the Sports Series. FOS visitors can see the car well ahead of deliveries, which are due to start next year, and those feeling flush will be able to place an order for £148,000 car.
