What I love about photographing FOS is the unexpected moments. We all arrive at the crack of dawn, are given our briefs for the event and quickly work out the best routes and timing to get everything covered. It's what happen's in between, on-route from one location to another that always brings up the best moments. The ones that are not scripted, people who you know, people who you recognise, cars that you've heard about but not seen in the flesh and new angles through the trees and how the light falls. Always inspiring to experience and never dull.

FOS 2016 Snapper's Selection – Dominic James
This year's weather, although not liked by many, is a real help in creating moments to capture. I personally love having clouds in my shots, it really helps create a good composition especially when you're pointing the camera up at an amazing sculpture in front of the house. It was then a matter of finding a good angle, something slightly different – and I found mine while crossing the footbridge to the other side of the track. A bit of sculpture, a bit of house, a bit of branding and a great sky. One shot in the bag, and on we go to the next location on my brief.
I wanted to capture some of the people you see around, many just walking through the crowds enjoying the day (although I didn't spot Nico Rosberg in his hoody and sunglasses or a tonne of other people for that matter). I did find a few goodies and so have included them in my selection.
For me, the stars of the show are always the modern racing cars – simply awesome to watch and listen too! This year I mostly listened to them as I was working on other shots at the time, and it is very hard to be in two places at the same time at Goodwood! However, I did manage to see some cars on track and I've included some of my favourite shots. I did miss the one car I wanted to see, the winner of the Le Man's 24 Hours, the Ford GT, a really amazing car – so fast and powerful and those lines are just gorgeous. Perhaps next year.
