Elton John's Bentley and more sold at Bonhams FOS sale
In the video, Sir Elton is seen being driving along in the Continental convertible through the ice and snow of a Russian winter. Now with the numberplate B20 ELT and with under 41,000 miles up, the car sold for £80,000 (excluding commission).
In other early results from the sale:
A 1972 Ferrari ’72 Daytona berlinetta, one of 149 right-hand drive cars, delivered new to the UK and restored in the 1990s, sold for £480,000.
One of just three right-hand drive cars, a Porsche 356 Carrera Speedster sold to an online buyer for £820,000.
A 1960 Maserati 3500 GT coupe, with bodywork by Touring and one one of only 12 right-hand drive models, sold for £190,000 excluding the premium. The car was delivered new to the UK and has been in the same ownership since 1993.
At the other end of the scale a London-Sydney Morris Minor sold for £12,500, while potential early bargain of the sale was a 1947 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 S – last of the 6Cs, last of the great Vittorio Jano-era Alfas, one of the most expensive cars of its day and a favourite of the rich and famous. Just one snag: it’s in a lot of very tatty bits.
The components parts sold for £15,000 – while a whole Alfa 6C before it in the sale sold for £200,000. You do the maths!
