This prototype Jaguar XJR 575 could be the ultimate super saloon
With ‘575’ printed on its vinyl wrap – as well as embossed into the seats – there is perhaps not too much of a mystery. We can assume 575 is the horsepower from the supercharged V8, as deployed already in the top SVR F-Type.
Add those hallowed mega-saloon initials ‘XJR’ and here at Goodwood for its “secret” debut is a more powerful new Jag to take on the might of BMW and Merc-AMG. This will be the most powerful XJ ever, previous XJRs having “only” 550bhp. As for other changes to the new flagship, we will have to wait and see.
Of course, the new car will still be a way short of the most powerful Jaguar… the other Jag saloon making its world debut at FOS, the XE SV Project 8, has 600 horses…
