Video: A diesel Peugeot... but not as you've seen before
In many respects, it's recognisible as being related to the pretty Pinifarina style 404 saloon of the 1960s – but for one thing... gone is the three-box shape in comes an aerodynamically efficient bubble for the single occupant. It was based on a 404 convertible and built to promote Peugeot's diesel engined road cars. Together with Mercedes-Benz, Peugeot was at the time pioneering diesel engines for mass produced passenger cars. The Endurance car beat 40 world records for efficiency, and the firm has been known for its diesels ever since.
