At the just-gone Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard, we celebrated the life and career of Bernie Ecclestone in motorsport. He is, of late, a controversial figure but one that has been synonymous with – and integral to Formula 1 – over the past 50 years.

The spectacular central feature held five cars – each representing an era of Bernie’s influence on the sport – aloft over the awe-struck FOS crowds. These were The Five Ages of Ecclestone. The second, as represented on the central feature, is a Gold Leaf Lotus 72 as driven by the sport’s only posthumous champion, Jochen Rindt, who Bernie managed in period.
