The 1977 911S with its distinctive ’70s colour scheme sold to someone in the room for £125,000, against an estimate of £20-30,000. All the money is going to the Water Aid charity.
The car was introduced to a packed Bonhams marquee by the actress Sofia Helin who plays Detective Saga Norén in the popular Scandi-noir TV drama, in which the Porsche has featured for several years.

Sofia told the crowd before the auction that the sale of “her” car was a big day for her, and the loss of a dear friend. “It took a while to love her though,” she said. “To begin with she was sensitive, grumpy and unpredictable. But when I got to know her she is lovely. I hope the new owner is worthy of her.”
Sofia is an ambassador for Water Aid to which all proceeds from the sale are going, the car having been donated by the TV production company that owns it.
Sofia said the money would be used to help prevent children around the world from dying because of dirty water.
And what will the enigmatic Detective Norèn of Malmö County Police be driving next? That remains a mystery…
