The Goodwood Revival Meeting highlights programme will be shown in ITV4 on Wednesday 24th September at 2100 (with repeats on Saturday 27th at 1625 and Sunday 28th at 0955). ITV1 will show the programme on Monday 29th September at 2340.
The St Mary’s Trophy, RAC TT Celebration and Glover Trophy are the featured races. The St Mary’s rounds, for saloon cars from 1950 to 1959, provided highly entertaining, close racing – thanks in no small part to a large contingent of highly competitive touring car drivers. The RAC TT Celebration also provides a great spectacle: in this two-driver race, GT cars from 1960 to 1964 battle it out, providing plenty of deft, big-power, often-sideways manoeuvres. Fans of single-seaters are also catered for with the Glover Trophy for 1500cc Grand Prix cars (1961 to 1965). Brief highlights of other races will also be screened.
The show will be presented by Steve Rider and Amanda Stretton, Amanda herself having competed in the St Mary’s Trophy in a huge Jaguar Mk7. BTCC drivers Matt Neal, Gordon Shedden and Andrew Jordan will share their experiences of the event, and Sir Stirling Moss will offer a guided tour of the circuit. Other features will include the poignant parade that marks the 75th anniversary of RAF Westhampnett (the former name of Goodwood Aerodrome) and 50 years since the ‘discovery’ of Sir Jackie Stewart.
If you miss (or missed) the action and atmosphere, here’s your chance to relive it.
