It’s the World Cup of nations…in the Goodwood Revival car park. Or, more specifically, the Pre-66 car park where, as regular Revival goers will know, some of the best and rarest cars on the planet can be found. And the best thing us? They have all been driven here…

England v Germany... who are you backing in the pre‑66 Revival parking?

There are hundreds of delectable delights in the Pre-66 car park this year, including more Jags than you could reasonably ever expect to see in one place at one time (something to do with an around-Britain jaunt by 70 E-types which sets off from Goodwood on Monday 12 September).
Here are some of the cars that scored with us when we wandered round for a look-see. Very much an England vs Germany affair, with added interest from France, Italy, the US (and Wales!).
On the England team
AC Aceca, rare Bristol-engined coupe; Alvis TD21 series II (we think!) 3-litre; Bentley with very special body; Bristol 404 convertible (car that inspired the new Bristol roadster, also at Revival); 1904 Maudslay ‘Big Maude’, only Maudslay left with 9.6-litre overhead cam engine (and complete with folding rain protection!); Rolls-Royce with wonderful original patina; and from Wales…the Gilbern Invader (or is it the earlier Genie?).
Fielding for Germany
They don’t come much bigger or grander than this Mercedes-Benz Ponton four-door convertible; …or more glamorous than the 500K roadster; lots of 911s everywhere of course but what about this 2.2-litre 911T, driven over form Germany; and a brace of V-Dubs: a beach buggy and a Beetle made for touring!
On the Italian side
Lovely Alfa Junior Zagato; no not a Daytona but close: a Ferrari 365 GTC/4; rare Iso Rivolta Lele (surely a bit later than ’66?); difficult to beat a Lancia Fulvia, especially in orange!; Maserati Khamsin… er, now that’s definitely not pre-66!
Playing for France
You wait ages for one Facel Vega HK500 to come along…; Citroen SM looking magnificent (even though it did come out in 1970); Fiat dealer’s Citroen 2CV definitely pre-66 and looking it; a DS Decapotable always a treat; Peugeot 304 convertible.
And from across the pond
If you are going to have a Corvette this is the one; Hudson Big Six, the only Hudson in the village.

And a late goal Sweden
It’s Volvo, and one that apparently will go anywhere and do anything. Must have been fun driving it to Goodwood!
Plus lots and lots more of course from all nations, sorry we couldn’t show you more but then that would spoil it when you go and have a look for yourself.
