The Whitsun Trophy at this year’s Goodwood Revival was a reminder of what separates someone who can pedal from a professional racing driver. Going fast is one thing, but maintaining that pace in adverse conditions in entirely unsuitable machines is a pro’s game.

Do adverse conditions and unsuitable machines get any more adverse or unsuitable than the shimmering drizzle on the circuit and the savage V8 sportscars with which the drivers were equipped to tackle it during the Whitsun Trophy?
They took it all in their stride, as they do, with top peddler and WTCC Champion Rob Huff bringing home the ultra-rare Lotus 19 smoothly, safely and quickly in first place. Mike Whittaker pushed him to the very end, and Tiff put on an amazing show – hammering the loud peddle and wrestling his beast of a Lotus-Ford with spectacular style. You just can’t beat it, and we’ve got it all played out in the gorgeous gallery above.
