The low-grip two-wheeled action of the Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy had more than its fair share of heroic pedaling, with the battle for victory raging from start to finish. There were one or two giggle-worthy moments, too..

Video: John McGuinness gets sympathy pat as he's passed
Amongst all the shuffling of the grid and the tension of watching those skinny tyres slice through the standing water, we get reminded of one of the key differences between bike racing and car racing – proximity.
As we can see in the video above, this affords riders more opportunity to have a bit of fun. In the battle for third position, bike 14 moves to pass Isle of Man TT record holder John McGuinness on the right. It's a swift and clean pass, if a bit close, but if it wasn't for the laughter coming from the commentary box, you might not do a double take. McGuinness, while being liberated of his 3rd place position, gets a commisoratory pat on the back.
You just couldn't make it up!
