The St. Mary’s Trophy never fails to entertain. The drivers are fast and uncompromising but, best of all, it’s a race that brings David and Goliath battles every single time.

Gallery: David and Goliath – the St. Mary’s Trophy 2013
&width=1600)
At one end of the scale you’ve got Hot Wheels-sized Minis, in the middle you’ve got BMW 1800s and Ford Cortinas, and at the cathedral-sized end you’ve got Ford Galaxies. The Minis can brake late and carry speed through the corners, while the Galaxies plod through the corners, often sideways, before steaming down the straights.
Part one of the 2013 St. Mary’s Trophy was another classic. There were fights up and down the field, with drivers like Tom Kristensen, John Cleland, Derek Bell, Darren Turner, Stephan Peterhansel, Rauno Aaltonon, Tom Kristensen and Jochen Mass, and even Christian Horner, Rowan Atkinson, Chris Hoy and James Martin. What a race. David and Goliath contests will never not be entertaining.
