All variety of 1950s saloon cars took to the track to battle it out for the Sopwith Cup at the 73rd Members’ Meeting on Sunday. In an exciting battle the plucky little Austin A40 of Richard Meins took the battle to the much bigger, and more powerful, Mk1 Jaguars of Andy Wallace and Les Ely. But it would be Wallace who eventually crossed the line first, recovering from an early race brush with the little Austin to pull nearly a second clear at the end of the 12 laps.
