73MM Snapper's Selection No5 ‑ Stephanie O'Callaghan

Goodwood and particularly the Members’ Meeting has a very special place in my heart. As a recent graduate 2014 was my first year of big events and this all started with the Members’ Meeting. So I feel hugely thankful to be asked back again in 2015 to photograph more of the Goodwood events.

As a photographer I specialise in lifestyle and portraits (sorry if you’re expecting a gallery full of car racing pictures!), as anyone that has attended a Members’ Meeting will know, it is so much more then just a car show. Alongside the magnificent showcase the Goodwood team put on there is always an abundance of characters and personalities attending the event ready for me to photograph!

To try and pick just twenty four images to sum up my experience of the Members’ Meeting is pretty impossible. But I managed to narrow it down, with my favourite being this first portrait of two young boys. Children are always great to photograph as they are usually very honest in front of the camera- it’s pretty clear that these two couldn’t hide their excitement.

I love my photographs to tell a narrative and I find capturing small details helps tell the story of the day. Whether it’s the mechanics breakfast of French Fancies or the ‘good luck’ penguin mascot attached to a drivers car, this for me is truly what Goodwood is about.

Although the weather didn’t play its part this year, that didn’t stop thousands of people attending the event so have a look through the gallery and you never know, you might just spot yourself.

See you next year!
