Gallery: Stunning IWC Moment At 74th Members' Meeting

You’ve heard of the expression ‘dinner and a show’ haven’t you? Well, the official 74th Members’ Meeting timing partner and Swiss luxury watch manufacturer IWC Schaffhausen provided its advanced take on the concept around lunchtime on Saturday at #74MM with a pair of W196 Mercedes F1 cars from the 1950s and a couple of legendary racing drivers. Lunch and two immortal F1 legends on the Goodwood Motor Circuit? Beats the theatre…

Silver Arrows full throttle promo

The IWC moment was a spectacular demonstration of these iconic ‘Silver Arrow’ racers which, with Juan Manuel Fangio at the wheel, won back to back Grand Prix titles in 1954 and 1955. For Members’ Meeting we needed a level of talent befitting these thoroughbred winners, so IWC arranged for double F1 World Champion Mika Häkkinen and Le Mans victor Jochen Mass to take them around the Goodwood Motor Circuit.

Members and guests alike were rendered slack-jawed as these priceless legends took to the track. Following the cars’ return to their enclosure after their jaunt on track, Members’ Meeting visitors could be seen slowing to a stop on their walks around the paddocks, in awe of the IWC W196 and static W25 display.
