One of the joys of the Goodwood Members’ Meeting is seeing cars compete against each other that, to look at, you’d think would never sit together on the same grid. Today we’re bringing you one of those combos, one a light, nimble, mid-engined racer, the other a big, front-engined brute.
Video: Screaming Porsche 904 vs. growling V8 Mustang
The stage is the 77th Members’ Meeting, during practice for the Graham Hill Trophy. The cars? A 1965 Porsche 904 Carrera GTS driven by David Clark and Phillip Kadoorie, and a 1965 Ford Shelby Mustang GT350 driven by Don Dimitriadis and Chad Parrish.
The Porsche is being pushed hard, smoking its rear tyres at every opportunity, but what gains it makes through the corners are negated as soon as the big ol’ V8 gets some breathing space.
