We spotted this video late on Friday afternoon. It was one of those Friday afternoons where thoughts were turning to the impending EuroMillions result and then what we’d do when we found out that we hadn’t won. Probably go to the pub… which is also what we’d have done if we’d won.
Anyway, as you’re about to find out what we’d discovered was pure gold. The race was magic from the moment the flag dropped right up until the penultimate lap when it was effectively decided. The chief protagonists were Gerry Marshall in a Vauxhall Viva running on what Murray Walker describes as ‘Formula One’ tyres, Mike Crabtree in a screaming BDA-engined Mk1 Escort, and Martin Thomas in a Chevrolet Camaro.
You’re going to be treated to three different cars with three different drivers, all dealing with a lack of performance of some kind at different parts of the track and sliding all over the place in the process. Whilst we’d admit to being a tad old fashioned when it comes to motor racing, we reckon that this is about as good as saloon racing gets. But please, don’t take our word for it!
Part Two here…
