Video: Thunderous Can Am action from Road America in 1967

It’s 1967 and the premier event of the Canadian American Challenge Cup is about to get underway. Bruce McLaren and Denny Hulme sit on the front row, with Gurney, Donahue, Surtees and Hall raring to go behind them. Will the distinctive orange-coloured McLarens pull away? Can Jim Hall in the bewinged Chaparral make up any ground? Only time will tell as the pack roar into the Moraine Sweep, the fastest part of the Road America course…

Luckily for us, it’s not a bygone age. This year’s Revival saw a classic Whitsun Trophy race, with cars from McLaren lining up against racers from McKee, Lola and Elva. Goodwood may not have a section of track named ‘Thunder Valley’, but after having a look at this gallery you’d swear it should…
