Jorge Ferioli is a man with a remarkable passion for motorsport. Based in Argentina, he ‘commutes’ to Europe during the racing season to take part in some of the many historic race meetings in his Lola-Climax Mk4.
‘It’s a long way to go to race’ he explains, ‘but there’s no historic racing in Argentina! The car lives in the UK for most of the year, and I meet up with it at the races I take part in. For the rest of the time I race an Alfa Romeo GTV back home.’
Mr Ferioli has owned the Lola for about 14 years and seems to have lost count of the number of Revival meetings he’s raced at. ‘I think it’s four… or maybe five! I’d love to be there again this year if I get an invite. The Silverstone Classic would be great, too. We’ll see.’
And how is the Lola around Monaco? ‘Oh it’s very good’ he beams. ‘It’s a good friend of mine. It’s a really well-balanced car and it’s competitive, too. Of course it looks a little different from how it runs at Goodwood, because we have to fit the shorter nose which gives better cooling around Monaco.’
Asked if he’d be going for the win, he laughed and replied ‘ah well the car is capable, but the driver……!’
