Having dug out some of Dom Romney’s excellent photos from 72MM the other day, we did the same with his shots from Monaco Historique. Above is the gallery of his favourites, and below are some his thoughts on Monaco…
‘As a venue, Monaco is illogical and impractical and that’s what makes it the greatest race venue on the planet. The F1 is great, the Historique is mind blowing!
‘It’s impossible to choose a favourite place for photography. It’s Monaco – it’s all incredible! Even the bad bits are still better than 99 percent of the rest of the tracks in the world. I do love shooting the tunnel complex, if only for the buzz of a gaggle of ’70s F1 cars whizzing past. The noise is heavenly!
My favourite shot fro the weekend is the one going into the tunnel. I love the slogan on the rear wing, it pretty much sums up the safety concerns of the times!’
