For our money, the DRM races at the Oldtimer GP provided the best grid from a fantastic weekend. The predecessor of the DTM series had rules that, thanks to the allowance of wide arches and big wings, made for cars that looked as fast as they performed. Who couldn’t enjoy a grid whose front-runners include the likes of the Zakspeed Ford Capri, Porsche 935 Kremer K3 and a whole host of BMW M1s?
Both Saturday’s and Sunday’s races were won by Jörg Hübrer and Wolfgang Kaufmann in their Porsche 934, with Peter Mücke’s Zakspeed Ford Capri following home in second place for both races. The final podium spot was taken by different BMW M1s on each day: Achim Heinrich in the first race, Michael Kammermann in the second. Our gallery captures the grid in all its variety. Can you pick a favourite?
