Tuesday saw Members’ Meeting fever reach unprecedented levels as competitors took to the track again for another round of testing.
And what a wonderful array of machinery it was, with the GRR office resounding to the sounds of some of the world’s most beautiful machinery throughout the day. It wasn’t just the cars that were the stars, we even had a world champion out on track.
A quick wander through the paddock turned up a low-drag Jaguar E-Type, with racer Alastair McCaig at the wheel. This car, 13 FXN, is a replica of 49 FXN we featured in a Goodwood Greats gallery not long ago.
Alastair wasn’t the only E-Type on track, as we spotted former World Touring Car Champion Rob Huff getting a few laps practice in the famous ex-Dick Prothero E-Type, best known by its registration number – CUT 7. We’re sure this car needs no introduction and it is an honour to see it back out on our track – both car and driver will take part in the Hill Trophy at the Members’ Meeting.
But there was more than just Jags out to play, Shelby Cobra CSX2051, owned by Gavin Henderson also went out for a run. We’re pretty sure this gorgeous Cobra has raced every single year of its life and is part of the same collection as the GT40 we featured as a Goodwood Great.
Our friends at Historic Automobiles were also getting some practice in, running a beautiful Bizzarrini 5300GT for an initial shakedown alongside many more including Katarina Kyvalova of the Bentley Belles.
Members meeting is now barely more than a week away…
