Video: Awesome classic racers take to the huge Monthlery banks
This year’s LGHA saw considerable growth and improvements over the inaugural 2015 event, with a large number of spectators enjoying the circuit action right up until 10pm at night.
The sight of gaggle of 1980s Group B rally cars with headlamps ablaze and spitting flames in the dark made for a memorable sight, as did seeing five significant Voisins take to the banked track, including the 1927 Voisin Record Car that had set a number of speed records at Monthlery 89 years earlier (as seen in the second video).
LGHA sponsors Peugeot wheeled-out an interesting cross-section of its competition cars from its ‘Adventure Peugeot’ museum, including some competition 204s, plus the mouth-watering short-tail CD Peugeot LM66 aerodynamic endurance racer, which sounding amazing thundering around the Monthlery banking.
Many other competition cars, from 1920s voiturettes to 21st Century supercars, could also be seen in action on the banking, admired by the many hundreds of owners grouped in the large and dedicated classic car club display zone. The 2016 LGHA even boasted a global dynamic car debut with the brand new Peugeot 3008 being used as the official pace car for the event.
