Saleen’s brawny supercar of the early to mid-2000s didn’t get much attention over here, but it deserved it. A slippery lightweight carbon body and a beast of a V8 (which eventually received two turbos) sat in the middle meant this could have been a real contender in the race to 250mph.

Video: On board growling Saleen S7R at Daytona
Alas, as promising as it was it never caught global attention, but that didn’t stop them taking it racing. Whether it was a success is up for debate. The S7R won in its class at Le Mans in 2010 in the twilight days of GT1. Success or not, nothing can take away the fact that the S7R, as with all of GT1, is a glorious spectacle. Watch, in the on board video above, as this S7R takes a flat out lap of Daytona.
