This half hour video, uploaded by VHS Rallies last year, features action from the 1984 Lombard RAC Rally – the final round of that year’s World Rally Championship.
Direct from a high street startline, Fear introduces the competitors ahead of their 2,000-mile journey through England, Scotland and Wales, complete with 500 miles of special stages.
Check out some of the awesome ‘80s rally cars, in full battle dress. Then watch as they fly around the various special stages, through the grounds of stately homes and safari parks, to race circuits, forestry lanes and muddy fields.
At five minutes in, pay particular attention to the damage to Tony Pond’s Rover SD1 after he slides off into the trees. And look out for famous names on the leader board, as the likes of Ari Vatanen and Michele Mouton battle for the win.
Converted from the original VHS, this classic rally is a clip worth watching…
